National Portrait Gallery

My boyfriend's grandfather has been an art collector most of his life. When he was 20, his grandparents commissioned a relatively unknown artist at the time, Jim Torok, to paint his signature small scale portraits of his entire extended family. Fast forward 8 years, Jim Torok is well respected in the art community and has been invited to showcase his series on the Todd family in the National Portrait Gallery in DC. I had the pleasure to go to the opening last week, and it was really exciting to see paintings of people I know hanging in a national museum.
